In the past decade, peanut allergy has become scarier than killer bees and shark attacks. This fear has a solid basis since peanut allergy has become the leading cause of anaphylaxis and death related to food allergy in the US. What can we do to fight back? Instead of telling parents to avoid giving peanut to their children until 3 years old, we now believe that consuming peanut protein as early as 4 months can be protective. Dr. Ly just had her baby boy!

Dr. Ly just had her baby boy! He was born on Thursday, May 7th and his name is Tanner William Ly. He arrived with the spectacular numbers - 7lb, 8 oz and 20 inches. Mom, dad, and baby are doing well.  He joins his big sister Evelyn. Our staff and her patients are looking forward to welcoming Mom back to work in mid-July.

Happy New Year Sarasota! It looks like we’re going to have an early tree pollen season in 2015 with moderate levels of pollen already in the air. A large study recently published in The Journal of Allergy & Clinical Immunology looked at the prevalence of hay fever and associated climate factors using data from the 2007-2008 National Survey of Children’s Health. In total, 91,642 children and adolescents from all 50 states in the U.S were assessed. Hay fever occurred in 18.0% of U.S. children, with the highest prevalence in southeastern and southern states.
