Learn OIT – One-day mentorship at the Food Allergy Center of Florida
If you are looking for guidance on how to incorporate OIT/SLIT safely into your clinical practice then you are in the right place. Since starting treatment of our patients with food allergies in 2012, we are continuously fine tuning the OIT process for cost effectiveness, enhanced patient safety and improved outcomes. SLIT was added to our menu of options in 2021 and has been a game changer for many patients. We are proud of what we’ve created and are happy to share it with our allergy/immunology colleagues from around the United States.
There is no substitute for observing first hand how the OIT/SLIT process is incorporated into a typical allergy practice. During your day with us you will spend most of your time shadowing our Food Therapy Coordinator as she prepares the OIT/SLIT food, administers the day’s dose, and counsels patients and their families through their OIT/SLIT visits and addresses their concerns online and over the phone. You will also have the opportunity to meet with our billing supervisor, office manager, and physicians. You will leave with a thumb drive containing our OIT/SLIT protocols for top allergenic foods, list of supplies, mixing directions and supporting patient documents.

Food Allergy Support Team
Drs. Windom, Richard Wasserman, and Doug Jones were instrumental in the formation of the Food Allergy Support Team (FAST) in 2014. The group, open to US/Canadian allergists, was developed out of a need to provide leadership in this evolving arena of patient care. More than 200 physicians utilize FAST to share OIT experiences and learn from one another. The first annual FAST meeting was in 2017 and the collective ideas were published in Annals of Allergy Asthma & Immunology, 2018. If you are interested in attending the next annual meeting please contact us.
Below are articles written by FAST members on our OIT experiences:
