Here are a few allergy pro tips to share with your loved ones.

The most joyful time of the year is upon us, and we at Windom Allergy are choosing to keep things simple. We want to focus our time and energy on family and friends and do less. Decorate less. Worry less.

1.  For food allergy friends - If you are planning on hosting a holiday meal, please save the ingredient labels for your allergic guests.  Also, have guests be mindful of cross-contamination. Please don’t mix utensils while preparing dishes, and wipe down surface areas with soap and water.

2.  For friends with asthma and environmental allergies - We have read recommendations to wash real Christmas trees/greenery to minimize mold spores and pollen. If you have an artificial tree, you could clean it as well to minimize dust and mold.

But are you really going to do that? We wouldn’t. What if we all gave ourselves permission to live the holiday season more simply. Pick out a few decorations. Take care of them and appreciate our precious time with family and friends. Go out and enjoy the holiday lights at the UTC mall!

3.  You could be a bit of a Scrooge about the holiday hugs and kisses, but we choose to be huggers at Windom Allergy. We are fans of cleaning our noses daily with saline to minimize viruses. The fewer bad guys our immune soldiers must fight means more healthy vacation days.

So Happy Holidays, friends, we hope you have a relaxing rest of the year!
